Don't ignore fans in Diwali cleaning
As soon as the festival of Diwali arrives, the work of cleaning the house starts. People get busy in polishing the floors, windows, curtains and furniture, but the cleaning of ceiling fans is often ignored. The dust deposited on the fan blades may not be visible, but when the fan turns on, this dust can spread throughout the room. Therefore, it is necessary to clean the fans during Diwali.
Cleaning fan blades from old pillowcases
Before starting cleaning, switch off the fan and wait for it to stop completely. Use a sturdy ladder during cleaning and have another person help you for safety. Take an old pillowcase and slowly slide it onto the fan blades. Then carefully pull the cover from the root of the blade toward the outer edge. This process will collect the dust on the blades inside the pillowcase and prevent it from falling down. Repeat the same process on the other blades. After cleaning, take the pillowcase outside, turn it upside down and throw the dust accumulated in it in the dustbin.
solution for cleaning grease
Along with dust, a layer of grease can also accumulate on the fans installed around the kitchen. In such a situation, merely cleaning the pillowcase is not enough. First remove dust with a dry cloth or pillowcase. Then lightly wet a soft cloth and apply a little normal cleaner on it and gently clean the blade. Be careful not to spray the cleaner directly on the fan, as this may cause the liquid to reach the electrical parts of the fan. Allow the blade to dry completely after cleaning.
Things to keep in mind while cleaning
It is necessary to take some precautions while cleaning the fan. First of all, turn off the power switch and start cleaning only after the fan stops completely. Do not pour too much water on the blades or rub them hard, as this can cause the blades to bend or become unbalanced. Use a sturdy ladder instead of climbing onto a chair or table unsafely for cleaning. Switch on the power only after all parts of the fan are completely dry.
Fan cleaning frequency
There is no fixed rule for cleaning the fan. Usually, cleaning the blades once a month can prevent dust accumulation. However, in homes where windows are kept open a lot, fans can get dirty quickly. In such a situation, clean as per need. If the fan still shakes, makes noise, or produces less air after cleaning, the problem may not be just dust. In such a situation, get the fan fitting and motor checked by a qualified technician.
