Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has assigned district-wise responsibilities to the members of the Council of Ministers to strengthen the ongoing relief and rescue operations in the flood-affected areas of the state. This decision was taken after the Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas, in which he assessed the extent of damage and reviewed the ongoing relief operations. After the review, the Chief Minister directed the Ministers to maintain coordination with the district administration and ensure effective monitoring of the rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations.
According to the allocations issued, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has been assigned responsibility for Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida will oversee relief operations in Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur districts.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari has been given the responsibility of Puri district, while Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Nayak will monitor the situation in Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts.
The state government has stated that other ministers will also visit the districts under their charge to review relief operations and ensure timely assistance to affected people. This initiative aims to establish better coordination between the state government and local administrations to effectively deal with flood situations caused by heavy rainfall and rising river levels.
