Chief Minister's big step in honoring mother power, 'Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrishakti Yatra Yojana' started for women above 60 years of age
Sisters' Rakhi will no longer stop due to distance, gift of free bus journey with co-passenger on Rakshabandhan.
Yogi government gave a double gift to mother power, permanent free travel to elderly women and free bus service to all sisters on Rakshabandhan.

In honor of Matrishakti, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced “Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrishakti Yatra Yojana”, which provides free bus travel facility to women aged 60 years and above in Uttar Pradesh, and as a gift to Matrishakti on the occasion of the festival of Rakshabandhan, the facility of free bus travel to all mothers, sisters and daughters along with co-passengers in all buses of Uttar Pradesh government (from 6:00 am on 27 August 2026). By 12:00 midnight on 29 August 2026) was launched.
The program being inaugurated by the Chief Minister was inaugurated by the government nominated nodal Dr. Kumkum Dhar, President Birju Maharaj Kathak Sansthan Lucknow, Legislative Council Member Ayodhya/Ambedkar Nagar Dr. Hariom Pandey, MLA Katehari Dharamraj Nishad, Administrator/former District Panchayat President Shyam Sundar Verma (Sadhu Verma), former MP Ritesh Pandey, District Magistrate Isha Priya, Chief Development Officer Anand Kumar Shukla, members of BJP Mahila Morcha. The live telecast was watched and heard in the presence of District President, Vice President and General Secretary along with a large number of parents and officials of the concerned departments.
On this occasion, Dr. Kumkum Dhar, the nodal of the program, while thanking the Chief Minister and the Transport Department for the gifts given by the Chief Minister to Mother Power on the holy festival of Raksha Bandhan, said that the head of our state is always ready to take up such schemes which will benefit the general public of the state, make their life happy and develop the state. He said that women are also getting benefits from the free ration scheme, Ayushman Bharat scheme, various schemes run for farmers, schemes run for youth and economically weaker sections. He said that the role of women is important in the development and upliftment of the state, be it economic, social, political or educational field, their active participation is a big strength in the building of the state. He said that along with the business sector, he is continuously showing his ability in all the fields including science, art, army, sports etc. Women have been continuously proving themselves with their talent, this is the result of their hard work. Women play an important role in various forms in the upliftment of a family and society, she is the pivot of the family. Women take care of their parents more than men. He said that on the occasion of this sacred festival of brother-sister relationship, the Chief Minister has implemented this very beautiful scheme while taking care of the sister.
He said that similarly, for the upliftment of women and daughters, the government is distributing various public welfare and beneficiary schemes like Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Mass Marriage Scheme, Destitute Pension Scheme etc. along with tablets, smartphones to the daughters of graduates and now the scheme of providing scooters has also been launched. Free coaching facility is being provided for competitive exams. In the same sequence, today, keeping in mind the convenience of the sisters, this free transport bus service has been launched by the Chief Minister. So that due to financial constraints, no sister faces any problem in tying Rakhi on her brother's wrist. He expressed happiness over the implementation of the said schemes. He threw detailed light on various public welfare schemes and works already being run by the state government for the purpose of preserving Indian culture.
On this occasion, Member Legislative Council Hariom Pandey, while appreciating the gifts given by the Chief Minister to Matrushakti for Rakshabandhan, said that on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, any sister can avail the benefit of free bus service through the service of any government bus from 27th to 29th August, along with this, under the Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrushakti Yatra Yojana launched today, any woman above 60 years of age of Uttar Pradesh can register by showing her Aadhar card or Voter ID card. Can avail the benefit of free bus service. MLA Katehari and Administrator/former District Panchayat President also thanked the Chief Minister for the launch of the above schemes. Former MP Ritesh Pandey said that there is a large number of participation of the people of the district in various areas of the state, the maximum credit for this goes to the mothers and sisters. The society in the area where there are educated women progresses. He said that mothers and sisters are the backbone of the home. The government has done the work of bringing mother power into the mainstream and placing it at the forefront of the country.
The program was started by lighting the lamp by the District Nidhigan along with Nodal Dr. Kumkum Dhar and at the end of the program, sarees and sweets were distributed to the Shaktis by the public representatives along with Nodal Dr. Kumkum Dhar.
