At present, employees are getting 58 percent dearness allowance on the basic salary. Looking at the latest inflation data and CPI-IW trend, it is estimated that DA may increase by 2 to 3 percent from July 2026. If this happens then dearness allowance can reach 60 or 61 percent.

In the last few months, there has been an increase in the prices of many essential commodities including food items. The rising level of retail inflation has further strengthened expectations of DA hike among employees.

About 48 lakh central employees and more than 68 lakh pensioners will directly benefit from the increase in dearness allowance. This will increase their monthly income and reduce the impact of inflation to some extent.
