Technology Desk: Zomato founder and former CEO Deependra Goyal has given a big update regarding his new wearable device Temple. According to Goyal, the size of the temple has been reduced to more than half compared to the model shown earlier. They claim that after being small, it has become one of the smallest wearable devices in the market.
Recently, people's interest in Temple increased when Indian badminton player PV Sindhu was seen wearing this device during the BWF World Championship 2026 in New Delhi.
Temple became smaller than half before
Deependra Goyal shared information about the new design of Temple on X. He said that the device is now less than half the size of the design shown earlier. However, the company has not yet given information about the exact length, width and weight of its new model. Goyal says that despite its small size, its capabilities are quite high. The temple is designed to be worn on the body and is placed on one side of the forehead.
What does the temple do?
According to Temple's website, this device tracks Entropy, a measurement related to the body. According to the company, an attempt is made to understand the changes related to body condition and energy. According to Goyal, entropy readings can be updated continuously. Things like rest, sleep, stress, coffee, meditation and more physical activity are claimed to bring about changes.
Keep an eye on signals related to brain and body
According to the information revealed about the temple, the device tries to understand some signals related to the brain and body from near the forehead.
It claims to track signals like cerebral blood flow, oxygenation and cognitive load. According to Deependra Goyal, Temple's team has identified a biomarker that can be read from this part of the forehead, which has been named Entropy.
What is Entropy Maxima and Minima?
Goyal has explained Entropy in two parts. Entropy Maxima: This tells the level where the body can reach during heavy exertion or physical activity. According to Goyal, the maximum capacity of the body can change with increasing age.
Entropy Minima: It shows the minimum level of entropy of the body in the relaxed state. According to them, low entropy at rest could be a better sign. However, at present these are the claims made by Temple and Deependra Goyal. Independent scientific and medical research will be necessary before these can be considered medical tests or medical findings.
Claims to be more accurate than heart rate
Deependra Goyal claims that Entropy can provide more accurate information than heart rate in understanding the body's energy consumption. According to him, the entropy readings obtained from the Temple were compared with the data from a standard metabolic measuring machine. During this period, data from more than 100 cardio sessions has been used and a strong relationship has been claimed to be found.
However, this is a claim given by the company. Therefore, Temple cannot currently be considered a substitute for medical examination, treatment or doctor's advice.
Discussion of temple increased after PV Sindhu
The discussion about Temple increased further when PV Sindhu was seen wearing it. This device was seen near his forehead during the BWF World Championship 2026 in New Delhi. After this, people asked many questions on social media about the design of the temple and its working method. Now after the new update of Deependra Goyal, this wearable is once again in the news.
Not launched for general public yet
Despite the updates regarding Temple, this device is not yet fully available for common customers. According to Deependra Goyal, the company does not want to launch it on a large scale until the device is completely ready.
Currently the company is working on improving its size, technology and capabilities. Information about the price, availability and its final features of the Temple is expected to be revealed in the coming time.
