Delhi fire: B&B owner turns out to be an old accused, used to use fake documents
A massive fire broke out in an illegal bed and breakfast (B&B) in Malviya Nagar, Delhi on Wednesday, in which 21 people lost their lives. Now after this accident a big revelation has come to light. Investigation has revealed that the owner of this B&B, Lavkesh Bajaj, has already been arrested in serious cases like fake documents and fraud.
According to police, Bajaj is accused of helping a Bangladeshi woman, her daughter and minor grandson get Indian identity documents such as Aadhaar card and passport using his Delhi address. A case had already been registered against him in this matter and he was arrested after investigation.

In which case did Bajaj go to jail?
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh, a case of cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy was registered against Bajaj in the year 2025. The investigation found that some Bangladeshi citizens were living in India illegally and were obtaining identity cards on the basis of fake documents. Investigation also revealed that one of the women had even obtained an Indian passport using Bajaj’s address. After this, the police took action and arrested Bajaj and other accused.

B&B and restaurant were running illegally
Police investigation has also revealed that the B&B where the fire broke out was being operated without valid permission. There was no license to run a restaurant, only a ‘tea and snacks outlet’ license. That too had ended in March 2025.

Arrested again after the fire
21 people died while 21 others were injured in this fire incident. Initial investigation revealed that the fire started from the kitchen. A few hours after the incident, the police again arrested the owner Lavkesh Bajaj. According to the police, after the accident he had applied to renew his license, which was rejected. At present, detailed investigation of the entire matter is going on.
