Delhi High Alert: India got independence on 15th August 1947… on this day India was freed from British slavery. This day is a day of pride for all Indians. Against this backdrop, the security level has been increased in the capital Delhi on the eve of Independence Day. After receiving input from intelligence agencies regarding possible terrorist threat Delhi Police have taken special precautions. Against this backdrop, posters of 19 wanted terrorists are being put up in public places. This information has been given in the report released on 11 August 2026.

Three modules of 19 terrorists
Delhi Police has divided these 19 people into three groups.
1. Indian Mujahideen – 5 people
Iqbal Bhatkal, Riyaz Bhatkal, Junaid Ahmed, Mohammad Khalid and Mohsin Chaudhary are reportedly included in the list. The name of Indian Mujahideen has come up in the investigation of many bomb blasts in India.
2. Al-Qaeda – 6 people
Mohammad Sharjeel Akhtar, Mohammad Rehan, Abu Sufiyan, Syed Mohammad Arshiyan, Mohammad Shaheed Faizal alias Ustad and Mohammad Umar have been named in this module.
3. Associated with Khalistani organizations – 8 persons
Wadhwa Singh Babbar, Purushottam Singh Pamma, Harvinder Singh Rinda, Gurmeet Singh Bagga, Bhupendra Singh Bhinda, Ranjit Singh, Paramjit Singh Pamma and Arshdeep Singh Dala were reportedly included in the group.
Special arrangements at sensitive places
Delhi Railway Stations, Bus Stations, Metro stationssecurity has been increased in markets, historical places and crowded areas. Along with deployment of additional police and security forces, emphasis is being placed on CCTV surveillance, vehicle checks and screening of suspicious persons.
Police appeal to citizens
Delhi Police has appealed to the citizens to be vigilant. In case of suspicious person, object or movement, it is requested to immediately inform the police or the relevant security agencies without taking any action yourself. This precaution is being taken in the background of Independence Day events.
