Entry of 40% new faces in UP BJP: 500 names sent from 12 districts, new team will be announced soon

Bharatiya Janata Party has intensified its strategy regarding Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2027. In this series, BJP has handed over the command of Kanpur-Bundelkhand region to new hands. Although the regional presidents changed several times in the region, the political circumstances changed and the electoral equations also changed completely, but the regional committee was running on its old structure for the last seven years.

Now the new regional president Ramkishore Sahu faces a big challenge of preparing his new team and infusing new energy within the organization. A strategy has been prepared for the formation of a new committee. For this, a detailed list of about 500 possible names from 12 districts has been submitted to the state and central leadership. It is believed that the new committee may be officially announced very soon. After a wait of seven years, there is every possibility of changing about 40 percent faces in the organization.

Big brainstorming took place on Rakshabandhan in Delhi Recently, on the special occasion of Rakshabandhan, Delhi Regional President Ram Kishore Sahu and Regional Incharge Shankar Lal Lodhi had an in-depth discussion with Uttar Pradesh BJP State President Pankaj Chaudhary regarding the reorganization of the Regional Committee. This time the size of the regional committee is also being increased. Whereas earlier there was a 31-member committee, now a jumbo team of about 45 officials is likely to be declared in its place. In this, mainly the names of eight Vice Presidents, eight Ministers, three General Secretaries and Treasurer as well as other officials of the Working Committee will be included.

5-5 names sent for each post Keeping in mind the balance and merit in the organization, five alternative names for each post have been sent to the high command. Apart from the officials currently holding the responsibility, these names include the names of former district heads and senior leaders who have been dedicated to the party for a long time.

There is discussion in political circles that this time a woman leader in the committee can be given an important responsibility like General Secretary. Apart from this, to strengthen the party in Kannauj, the parliamentary constituency of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, an active leader there can be promoted and made the General Secretary. At the same time, a close relative of a former MP from Kanpur district can be promoted to the post of minister in the committee and some old senior officials can be given the responsibility of the post of vice president. Regional President Ramkishore Sahu has confirmed in this regard that the new committee will be announced very soon.

The real test of the organization will be on 52 assembly seats. There are a total of 52 assembly seats in the Kanpur-Bundelkhand region, which are very important for the party. If we look at the past record, in the 2017 assembly elections, BJP had registered a landslide victory on 47 out of these 52 seats. However, this figure will come down to 40 seats in the 2022 elections.

The party's graph was seen falling in the Lok Sabha elections also. While in the year 2019, BJP had won all the 10 Lok Sabha seats of this region, in the 2024 general elections, the party was limited to only four seats. In such a situation, the newly formed regional committee will have a big test and direct responsibility to strengthen the organization up to the booth level.

This new organization will have to achieve better coordination between 14 administrative districts and 17 organizational units. Along with this, it will be necessary to identify the workers who have been inactive for a long time, remove the resentment growing among the public and workers towards the local MLAs, strengthen the weak booths and prepare a different strategy for those areas where the influence of the opposition is more.
