Bangladesh's fast bowler Hasan Mahmood has created history. Hasan has become the first Bangladeshi Test bowler to take 5 wicket haul in Australia. He achieved this feat by taking 6 wickets in the Darwin Test. Hasan had accomplished the same feat in India two years ago. By taking 5 wickets in the first innings of Chennai Test, he became the first Bangladeshi to open his paw in this format on Indian soil.
26-year-old Hasan is the second bowler to take 6 or more wickets in a Test innings in Darwin. Before him, this feat was done by Michael Kasprowicz, who took 7 wickets for 39 runs against Sri Lanka in 2003. Hasan has taken 6 wickets for 55 runs.

Australia bowed its knees before Hasan
Hasan, playing his 15th Test, dismissed Australian openers Jake Weatherald and Travis Head in consecutive overs. He had Wetherald (23) caught behind the wicket by Liton Das in the 12th over. After this, in the 14th over, Head played the ball on his own wickets, due to which Australia's score became 52/2. After disposing of both the openers, Hasan took the last 4 wickets of the Kangaroo team and reduced its innings to 198.
Hasan gave the ninth blow to Australia in the form of Steve Smith (71), due to which the Bangladeshi team was successful in stopping the Kangaroos below 200. Taskin Ahmed and Ibadat took 2 wickets each. Apart from Smith, no batsman could perform for Australia.

Bangladesh tightened its grip
After bowling out Australia cheaply in the first innings, Bangladesh also performed well with the bat. Shadman Islam and Tanjeed Hasan made an opening partnership of 36 runs. Shadman became the victim of Mitchell Starc after scoring 20 runs. After this, Tanzeed and Mominul Haq made an unbeaten 60-run partnership and put Bangladesh in a very strong position. Bangladesh's score at stumps on the first day is 96/1. It is lagging behind Australia by just 102 runs. Tanjeed is on 32, while Mominul is at the crease after scoring 35 runs.
