Gold and silver prices witnessed a marginal decline on Tuesday, October 6, amid pressure from a stronger US dollar and elevated US Treasury yields. However, geopolitical uncertainty and changing expectations around US Federal Reserve interest rates continued to influence the precious metals market.

In the international market, spot gold slipped 0.2% to around $4,133.59 per ounce, while US gold futures were also marginally lower. In the domestic market, MCX gold was trading around ₹1.49 lakh per 10 grams, while MCX silver was around ₹2.25 lakh per kg.

According to the latest retail rates, 24K gold in Mumbai was priced at ₹1,49,100 per 10 grams, while 22K gold stood at ₹1,36,675 per 10 grams.

In Delhi, 24K gold was priced at ₹1,48,850 per 10 grams and 22K gold at ₹1,36,440 per 10 grams.

In Bengaluru, 24K gold was available at ₹1,49,310 per 10 grams, while 22K gold was priced at ₹1,36,868 per 10 grams.

Chennai recorded the highest 24K gold rate among these four cities at ₹1,49,620 per 10 grams. The 22K gold rate stood at ₹1,37,152 per 10 grams.

Silver price today

Silver prices also declined marginally in the domestic market. In Mumbai, 999 fine silver was priced at ₹2,25,290 per kg, while Delhi recorded a rate of ₹2,24,900 per kg.

In Bengaluru, silver was priced at ₹2,25,610 per kg, while Chennai recorded ₹2,26,090 per kg.

Gold and silver prices continue to remain volatile due to global economic developments, movements in the US dollar and bond yields, interest-rate expectations and geopolitical tensions. Retail jewellery prices may differ from bullion rates as GST and making charges are added.
