New Delhi. Central employees and pensioners are waiting for the next installment of dearness allowance. Based on AICPI-IW data, a 3 to 4 percent increase is being estimated regarding the DA amendment to be effective from July 1, 2026. However, the central government has not yet made an official announcement regarding the new rate.
At present, central employees are getting 60 percent DA of their basic salary. If the government increases it by 4 percent, it will increase to 64 percent. If there is an increase of 3 percent, the DA rate can reach 63 percent.
How much will be the benefit in salary?
DA is decided directly on the basis of basic salary. Therefore, the increase will affect the monthly salary of the employee. For example, if the basic pay of an employee is ₹ 30,000, then 4 percent additional DA will create an additional amount of ₹ 1,200 every month. The change in actual salary will also depend on other allowances and rules.
Pensioners will also get benefits
Like employees, there is amendment in dearness relief i.e. DR for pensioners also. When the new rate of DA is implemented, the DR is also expected to change in the same proportion. With this, lakhs of pensioners can get additional relief amid inflation.

Revision of DA is usually done twice a year. It is calculated on the basis of inflation trend and AICPI-IW data. Therefore, 63 or 64 percent DA is still an estimate, not the final rate. The new rate and the actual benefits to employees-pensioners will be clear only after the official announcement by the government.
