In this sequence, a high level review meeting was organized at the Intelligence and Security Headquarters in the capital Dehradun. The meeting was presided over by Director General of Police Deepam Seth. Senior police officers from across the state, heads of STF, ATS and notification in-charges of all the districts participated in this important meeting. The DGP clarified that in view of the changing security situation, upcoming assembly elections, Kumbh Mela and festivals, the police machinery will have to become more agile and modern than before.
Anti-terrorism policy 'Prahar' will be implemented
During the meeting, the Director General of Police gave instructions to implement the country's first anti-terrorism policy 'Prahar' implemented at the national level with full force in the state. He said that special efforts should be made under the strategy of the Central Government to deal with the new and changing techniques of terrorism. Along with this, he asked to upgrade the functionality of Uttarakhand ATS on the lines of operations of big and successful states of the country. The police team will study the successful models of other states, so that prompt and professional action can be taken in any adverse situation. For this, there will be no shortage of modern weapons, surveillance gadgets and technical equipment.
Keep an eye on foreign conspiracies on social media
In the meeting, the DGP expressed deep concern over the inputs of Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti to instigate the youth and impose fundamentalist thinking through social media. In view of his network associates caught in different parts of the country, orders have been given to maintain special vigilance in every district of Uttarakhand. Platforms like Facebook, X, Instagram and WhatsApp will be closely monitored 24 hours. The Director General of Police directed the officers to immediately identify any suspicious accounts that are engaged in misleading the youth or spreading hatred and take strict legal action.
Immediate rebuttal on fake news and deepfakes
DGP talked about taking special vigilance regarding cyber security. He said that false news, inflammatory messages and deepfake videos spread on social media regarding sensitive and communal issues should be immediately refuted. The police's own fact check system should remain active so that the truth comes before the public before rumors spread. The DGP said that no mischievous element will be allowed to disturb the harmony of the state and in such cases prompt action will be taken without any delay.
Joint patrolling of international borders
