Gorakhpur: Terror of thieves in Mahuadabar of Khajni, 2 major thefts in 3 days, loss of more than 20 lakhs.

Two major thefts in the same village in a span of just three days have not only given sleepless nights to the local people, but have also put a question mark on the functioning of the police. Overall, property worth more than Rs 20 lakh is estimated to have been stolen in both the incidents.

The vicious game of thieves by entering through the roof

The latest incident took place on the night of 12 April at Santosh Gaur’s house. The thieves entered the house through the roof, broke the lock of the cupboard and looted property worth around Rs 10 lakh, including precious jewellery, cash and clothes kept for the wedding. The thieves turned out to be so clever that they locked the main door from outside, due to which the entire family remained imprisoned inside the house throughout the night. The incident came to light only when the door did not open in the morning.

Earlier on the night of April 9, thieves entered the house of Anandeshwar Pandey alias Santosh in the same village through the roof and stole jewelery and cash worth lakhs of rupees. A total loss of more than Rs 10 lakh was reported, including four earrings, four rings, two gold chains and two pairs of anklets.
Cases not registered despite written complaint
The villagers have given written complaints at Khajni police station and Mahuadabar post in both the incidents, but in the first incident, a case has not been registered yet. Angered by this, the villagers allege that due to the laziness and negligence of the police, thieves are fearlessly committing crimes.
He said that if the police had shown strictness after the first theft, the second incident could have been prevented. There is no patrolling or monitoring in the area at night. Small thefts were already going on, now big gangs have become active. The situation is so bad that people themselves have been forced to stand guard at night.

Police claim – first incident is fake, second case will be investigated and case will be registered

On this entire matter, Khajni police station in-charge (SHO) Jayant Singh said that the incident of 8/9 April is fake, whereas a case of theft that took place at Santosh Gaur’s house on the night of 11/12 April is being registered.
At the same time, Khajni CO Deepanshi Rathore said that there was no information about the incident.

Public anger increased, demand for justice

Local people allege that many complaints are being suppressed in Khajni area and the general public is being deprived of justice. These incidents of Mahuadabar have raised questions on the administration and police system. The villagers have taken immediate cognizance of the higher officials and demanded strict action against the thieves and strengthening of security arrangements in the area.
