Gurugram Love Affair: Young man burns girlfriend alive
A heart-wrenching case has come to light from Gurugram, Haryana, where a man allegedly burnt his girlfriend alive for having a love affair by hiding the fact that he was married. The seriously burnt girl died during treatment, after which the police arrested the accused.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as 35-year-old Sunil Kumar alias Noni. During the investigation, the police recovered the kerosene bottle and mobile phone allegedly used in the crime from the shop of the accused. At present, the court has sent the accused on police remand for two days and the investigation of the case is going on.

1. According to the police, about one and a half years ago, 23-year-old Divya Kataria had gone to Sunil Kumar’s shop to sell jewellery. It was from here that the two got acquainted, which later turned into love.
2. Investigation revealed that the girl later came to know that Sunil was already married. After this, tension started increasing in their relationship and disputes started happening frequently.
3. According to the police, on June 18, the girl reached the accused’s shop, where an altercation took place between the two. It is alleged that during this time the accused poured kerosene on the girl, although he did not set her on fire at that time.
4. In an attempt to resolve the dispute, the girl booked a flat in Central Park on Sohna Road, where both of them spent the night. Police allege that the next morning there was another argument between the two and during this the accused set the girl on fire.
5. After the incident, the accused took the injured girl to Artemis Hospital in Gurugram. Seeing his serious condition, the doctors referred him to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, where he died during treatment on June 27.
6. Police said that even after receiving information from the hospital on June 19, the girl and her mother did not take any legal action. The case took a new turn when on June 30, the girl’s cousin Vikas lodged a complaint at Sector-9A police station.
7. According to the complaint, on June 22, the girl had told in the hospital that Sunil had set her on fire and had threatened to kill her, her mother and sister if she told the truth or complained. On the basis of the complaint, the police registered a case and started investigation and arrested the accused. After presenting the accused in the court, he has been sent on police remand for two days.
