Kathmandu: Following recent incidents, various Hindu organisations in Nepal have presented a 15-point charter of demands to the government, including the demand for a Hindu nation.
These demands include immediate arrest of the culprits and alleged conspirators of the incident, fair investigation, compensation to the families of the deceased, free treatment for the injured and declaring the deceased as martyrs.
The organizations demanded that the report of the committee formed to investigate the incident be made public, that the officers who ordered the firing and the alleged perpetrators of the incident be identified, and that strict action be taken against those responsible for administrative negligence and security lapses.
The memorandum demanded a high-level investigation and monitoring of mosques, madrasas and monasteries across the country, an investigation into their financial sources, and also an investigation into the reasons for the disruption in power supply during the incident.
Hindu organisations have also demanded a resolution in Parliament to re-establish Nepal as a ‘Vedic Sanatan Hindu nation’, including Buddhist and Kirat traditions.
Apart from this, there has also been a demand to dissolve the Muslim Commission, investigate Madrasas and other religious educational institutions and ban those found illegal and permanently remove loudspeakers from mosques across the country.
The memorandum also includes demands to identify and expel Rohingya, Bangladeshi and Pakistani infiltrators from the country, tighten border security and investigate all Nepali citizenships issued after 1990.
The organizations also demanded the abolition of the Hajj Pilgrimage Committee, which operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the immediate removal of Prime Minister’s Advisor and Constitution Amendment Coordinator Mohammad Asim Shah, and legal action against those who display weapons at religious events.
Along with this, a demand has also been placed before the government to review the cases of people arrested during the agitation after the Dewanganj incident in Sunsari and release them under the legal process and to identify those spreading violence, hatred or extremist ideas through social media and take strict legal action against them.
