Inspired by the inspiration of Lokmanya Tilak's Ganeshotsav festival, Chinchpokli Public Ganeshotsav Mandal was established by Dattaram Pujari, Mahadev Basnak, Dattaram Mayekar, Captain Patankar etc. on September 6, 1920 to pay homage to Tilak. After this, 10 days later, on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, the brave activists of that time started with a bang by performing the life of Ganaraya.

The festival was started by the Mandal on a subscription of only 4 annas and the first Chintamani took place, i.e. in the premises of the Deccan Corps. Laxminarayan Gymnasium to Kalachowki Road and Shivdi to Bharatbhata Talkies were initially the areas of Bappa's workers. After almost 19 years, this Bappa settled on the eastern side of Chinchpokali railway station along the railway boundary wall and since then this Bappa has remained here till today.
