Bahajan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Thursday removed her nephew Akash Anand from the post of chief national coordinator of the party. He said that Akash still needs to gain more political maturity, hence he cannot be given big responsibilities yet.
Addressing the party's national committee meeting in Lucknow, Mayawati said that Akash Anand is allowed to work in the party, but he cannot be given important posts right now. He said that this is necessary to protect the party from losses over time, as opposition parties can try to weaken the party by adopting various methods.

Mayawati shocked before 2027?
Mayawati's decision is a blow to Akash Anand. In August 2025, Mayawati made him the national convenor of the party, which made him second in the party and he started being discussed as her successor. At that time Mayawati had entrusted him with the task of strengthening the party and connecting with young voters before the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Akash Anand still needs to mature more. Till then it would not be appropriate to give him a big responsibility of the party. There is also a need of the hour to avoid causing harm in the elections by using tactics like confrontation, cost, punishment, discrimination etc. of the opponents.

Why was Akash Anand removed from the post?
Mayawati said that party founder Kanshi Ram used to allow his family members to cooperate in the party's work but was against giving them any post if they contested elections or formed the government. He said that he also sticks to the same principle.
Mayawati said that she has allowed Akash Anand to work in the party but he still needs to be more mature. He said that it would not be right to give big responsibility of the party to Akash Anand right now.
What dilemma is Akash Anand stuck in?
Akash Anand reached the post of National Convener, then lost it, then was made, now once again he is out. Mayawati repeatedly raises questions about the maturity of Akash Anand. Akash Anand's attitude is very different from Mayawati. While Mayawati now becomes vocal and reduces her attacks on the opposition, Akash Anand openly attacks everyone from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh to Samajwadi Party.

In the year 2019, it had benefited in the Lok Sabha elections in alliance with the Samajwadi Party, but after that it was again reduced to zero seats.
