Manav Suthar took 10 wickets in the SL vs IND 1st Test, and his bowling effort led the team to a 165-run win. The visitors have taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match bilateral assignment, with the second and final red-ball game scheduled to be played on August 23 in Colombo. Suthar claimed four scalps in the first innings while he added six wickets to his record in the second innings. Chasing 372 runs for victory, the home team was dismissed for 206 in the second session of the fifth day.
Manav is also renowned for making vital contributions with the bat. He scored 24 and 9 across both innings in the series. The young player spoke to Ajay Jadeja, Ajinkya Rahane and Mohammad Kaif after the game. He was excited as India won the match and his bowling played a role in the success. Former players heaped massive praise on the youngster, with Jadeja pulling his leg. The veteran questioned his batting and whether he regrets having failed to give his best with the bat in the Test.
Suthar took it seriously and expressed his disappointment.
“I am disappointed as I could have scored more runs. I keep working on my batting, and it is important to contribute across departments,” he said.

Jadeja was taken aback and issued a clarification. “I was just kidding. You took 10 wickets in the match, which is more than enough. You keep focus on your bowling,” he said.
Manav then credited Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra for his help.
“Nehra sir has supported me a lot. I am feeling good as winning a match is important. You feel good when you contribute to the winning cause.
“I bowled fast in the second innings as the wicket was slow”: Manav Suthar
Ajinkya Rahane urged Manav Suthar to reveal the reason for bowling a touch faster in the second innings.
“The ball was spinning a lot in the first innings, but the situation changed in the second. The wicket became slow, and the bounce was not there. So I thought of giving less time to the batters,” he said.
Mohammad Kaif asked him about his favorite format in international cricket.
“I like Test cricket, but I want to adapt to the game irrespective of the format. I am focusing on batting as the team expects runs. I am working hard on my batting,” he said.
