Delhi: England's fast bowler Josh Tong has made a big record in the World Test Championship 2025-27 by bowling brilliantly in the Headingley Test against Pakistan. By taking five wickets in Pakistan's first innings, Tong completed 50 wickets in this WTC cycle. Pakistan team collapsed for 171 runs. Apart from Tong, Ollie Robinson also got 5 wickets.
Tong has become the first and only bowler to touch the 50 wicket mark in the current WTC cycle. By taking 50 wickets in 10 matches, he has reached the first position in the list of bowlers taking the most wickets.

50 wickets in 10 matches, great performance by Tong
Josh Tong has played 10 matches so far in the fourth cycle of WTC and has taken 50 wickets. He achieved this special status after taking five wickets in the Headingley Test against Pakistan.
Tong was also among the most successful bowlers of England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy played between England and India in 2025. His excellent form continues in this WTC cycle as well.
Starc and Siraj also close to Tong

Sixth England bowler to take 50 wickets in a WTC cycle
Josh Tongue has become the sixth England bowler to take 50 wickets in a WTC cycle. Stuart Broad's name comes first in this list. He took 69 wickets after playing 17 matches in the WTC 2019-21 cycle. After this, James Anderson took 58 wickets in the 2021-23 cycle. In the same cycle, Ollie Robinson had taken 53 wickets in his name. In the WTC 2023-25 cycle, Gus Atkinson took 52 wickets in 11 matches, while Chris Woakes dismissed 51 batsmen in 12 matches.
Nathan Lyon holds the record for most wickets in WTC.
The record of taking most wickets in a WTC cycle is in the name of Australia's legendary spinner Nathan Lyon. Lyon played 20 matches for Australia in the WTC 2021-23 cycle and took a total of 88 wickets. This is the highest wicket figure of any bowler in a single WTC cycle so far.
Pat Cummins is at the forefront among fast bowlers
If we talk only about fast bowlers, then the record of taking most wickets in a WTC cycle is in the name of Australian captain Pat Cummins. Cummins played 18 matches for Australia in the WTC 2023-25 cycle and took 80 wickets in his name.
