‘I had already said…’ CM Bhagwant Mann lashed out at the opposition on AAP’s victory in Punjab civic elections.
Tezzbuzz Desk – The results of Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections in Punjab have given a new message in the politics of the state. The ruling Bhagwant Mann led Aam Aadmi Party has performed brilliantly in the election results. After the victory, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held a press conference and called it public confidence in development and good governance.
The Chief Minister said that the Aam Aadmi Party has received huge support in the elections and the party’s candidates have won most of the seats. Giving credit for this victory to the people of Punjab, he said that people have chosen development based politics and have rejected the politics of hatred and division.
Bhagwant Mann said that the elections were held in a peaceful atmosphere and there was no news of any major dispute or violence from anywhere. He claimed that the entire process of voting and counting remained transparent, due to which the opposition has no basis to question the electoral process.
During this, the Chief Minister also targeted the opposition parties, especially Congress and BJP. He said that some political parties accept or reject the election results as per their own. When there is victory, questions are not raised on the process, but when there is defeat, allegations and counter-allegations start.
CM Mann said that the voters of Punjab are aware and they do not accept any kind of pressure or politics of fear. He said that the people of the state have given a clear message through their votes that they give priority to the issues of development, education, health and public welfare.
Attacking the Congress, the Chief Minister said that the public has now understood the old political methods and has started looking for work instead of just promises. While taking a dig at BJP, he said that the election results have given the opposition an opportunity for introspection.
The Chief Minister thanked all the voters who took part in the voting and said that the government will now pursue development works with more strength. He expressed confidence that the success in the civic elections will help in giving further impetus to the public welfare schemes in the state.
