New Delhi: The problem of hair fall has become quite common nowadays and many people are facing the problem of hair fall or baldness even at a young age. Lack of nutrients in diet, bad lifestyle and increasing pollution are considered to be the reasons affecting hair health. As soon as the problem of hair fall starts, people often start using different shampoos, oils and hair care products, but the problem can be aggravated by continuously using the products. Sometimes hair problems may be related to some deficiency or other problem going on inside the body.
The reason behind hair fall is not the same in every person. Chronic stress, lack of sleep, thyroid problems and genetic factors can affect hair growth. Apart from this, deficiency of nutrients like iron, protein, zinc and biotin can also increase hair fall. In such a situation, if sudden or continuous hair fall starts at an early age, then instead of relying only on home remedies, it is important to find out its real reason. It is not considered the right way to assume deficiency of any particular nutrient without testing.
Calcium is usually seen to increase bone growth, but its deficiency can also affect hair health. In case of severe or prolonged calcium deficiency i.e. hypocalcemia, changes in hair can be seen. Calcium deficiency is said to weaken the hair roots and affect the production of keratin, which can cause hair to become dry and weak and increase the risk of them thinning or dying. However, the problem of hair fall due to calcium deficiency alone is rarely seen. Along with this, the problem of weak knees can also occur.
According to dermatologists, deficiency of nutrients like iron, protein, zinc and biotin can promote hair loss, but this does not mean that every person needs to take these nutrients. Taking too many nutrients can also cause harm. Therefore, if there is a possibility of deficiency of any vitamin or nutrient in the body, then medicine or nutrient should be taken only on the advice of the doctor. Only after finding out the exact cause of hair problem, it is more appropriate to treat it accordingly.
Losing some hair every day can be part of the normal process and usually 30 to 50 hairs can fall out every day. Concern arises when hair starts falling continuously in large quantities, hairline starts receding or hair density starts decreasing. Excessive hair loss following an illness or stress may sometimes begin after a few months and gradually improve after the cause is eliminated. If hair is suddenly falling in clumps, forming round patches or redness and swelling are visible on the scalp, it is important to get timely examination and treatment to find out the exact cause.
