Stormy rain alert in 18 states: 60 kmph winds, 5 rain systems active in Gujarat

Monsoon has become active again across the country. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains and thunderstorms in 18 states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi today on August 19. Wind gusts of 60 to 65 km per hour are expected in some areas. With five rain systems simultaneously active in Gujarat, it is predicted to remain rainy till August 23.
Heavy rain and storm warning in 18 states
According to the IMD forecast, thundershowers and gusty winds are likely in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and some states of eastern India today along with heavy rain. Wind gusts of 60 to 65 kmph are expected. People are advised to exercise caution as strong winds are likely to damage large trees and weak structures. Heavy rainfall in mountainous areas can also increase the risk of landslides. Hail is also likely to occur in some areas.
Heavy rain alert in Delhi too
A heavy rain warning has been given in Delhi today on August 19. Temperatures in the city are likely to drop due to rain. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in Delhi could be around 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature around 28 degrees Celsius. During heavy rains, waterlogging conditions can occur, so motorists and passengers need to take extra care. Tourists are advised to avoid going to densely forested or dangerous areas.

5 rain systems active in Gujarat
Monsoon has become active in Gujarat once again. Normal to moderate rains are forecast till August 23 with five rain systems simultaneously activating over the state. Due to systems like Monsoon Trough, Shear Zone, Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation and Depression, the state will experience rainfall. Heavy to very heavy rains are especially likely in Surat, Navsari, Valsad and Dang districts of South Gujarat. Amreli, Junagadh, Gir Somnath and Rajkot in Saurashtra are also likely to receive moderate to heavy rain showers.

Wind speed will increase along the coast
Light to moderate rain with thundershowers is likely in some parts of North and Central Gujarat. Wind speed can reach 45 to 55 km per hour along the coast of Gujarat. In view of this situation, fishermen have been warned not to plow the sea. On the other hand, Vidisha, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Indore, Chhindwara, Seoni, Shahdol, Balaghat, Raisen, Ujjain, Shajapur and Dewas of Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience heavy rain and thunderstorm. Winds can blow here at a speed of 50 to 60 km per hour. The maximum temperature in Bhopal is likely to be around 29 degrees Celsius.
