The term ‘criminal background’ is applicable only to persons involved in serious and heinous crimes. The court has said that the state governments concerned can withdraw or close these cases as per the law regarding FIRs against students who have no background of such crimes.

Meanwhile, the police had lathi-charged and registered various cases against the youth protesting in Mumbai. However, now the agitation has been suspended, and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has recently taken a very important decision. The Chief Minister has given strict orders to the police administration to withdraw all the cases against the protesting students in Mumbai as soon as possible.
The agitation lasted for 36 days
The spark of the agitation that was ignited from Jantar Mantar against the malpractices and paper leakage in the NEET exam had reached Mumbai. In this agitation, the youth had presented 3 main demands to the government. The most prominent and aggressive demand was the resignation of the Education Minister. Police lathicharged the protesters to break up the protest and registered cases against many students.
