Eng Vs Ind 2nd ODI: Despite a strong start, the Indian team was all out for just 233 runs after facing 44 overs in the second match of the ODI series against host England on Thursday. On one hand, Team India has come with the intention of winning this match and capturing the series, while on the other hand, the aim of the host team is to win this match and remain in the series.
Captain Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma gave a steady start to the Indian team, which came to bat after losing the toss at Sophia Gardens on Thursday. Both the players made a partnership of 44 runs in 7.4 overs. Gill was out after scoring 31 runs in 30 balls with 6 fours.
Partnership between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli
After this, Rohit Sharma along with Virat Kohli added 60 runs in 61 balls for the second wicket and took the team beyond the century mark. Rohit was out after scoring 26 runs in 47 balls with 2 boundaries. After some time, Ishan Kishan (1) also returned to the pavilion.
India had lost its third wicket at the score of 111. From here, Shreyas Iyer along with Virat Kohli put India in a strong position by adding 67 runs in 67 balls for the fourth wicket, but after the dismissal of Kohli (65) in 31.4 overs, there was a fall of wickets.
Bumrah scored 18 runs in one over
The situation was such that India had lost 8 wickets till the score of 210, after which Jasprit Bumrah along with Iyer scored 23 runs in 19 balls. Meanwhile, in the 43rd over, Bumrah hit 3 fours and 1 six against Saqib Mahmood. Iyer was out after scoring 66 runs in 71 balls with 2 sixes and 5 fours, while Bumrah played an unbeaten inning of 20 runs in 13 balls.
For England, Joffra Archer and Gus Atkinson took 3 wickets each, while Saqib Mahmood took 2 wickets. Apart from these, Sam Curran and Will Jacques took 1 wicket each.
