IND vs SL Test : The two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka will begin from August 15. Team India has left for Sri Lanka on August 4 for this series. The first match of the series will be played in Galle, while the second match will be played in Colombo from August 23. The Indian team will be playing a Test series on Sri Lankan soil after almost nine years. All eyes are on whether India, led by Shubman Gill, can maintain its impressive record or not.

A total of 46 Test matches have been played between India and Sri Lanka so far. Out of these, the Indian team has won 22 matches while the Sri Lankan team has won only 7 matches. The remaining 17 matches have been drawn. It is clear from the statistics that India has always had a dominant lead against Sri Lanka in Test cricket.
Sri Lanka last won a Test series against India in 2008. The hosts defeated India 2-1 in that three-match series. At that time, Sri Lanka was captained by Mahela Jayawardene, while India was captained by Anil Kumble. Sri Lanka last won a Test match against India in 2015.
Since the 2008 defeat, six Test series have been played between India and Sri Lanka, of which India has won five, while the 2010 series in Sri Lanka ended in a 1-1 draw.

Bumrah out of the series
Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the crucial series due to a knee injury sustained during the ODI series against England. Jammu and Kashmir bowler Aaqib Nabi has been named in Bumrah’s place. This series is important for both the teams from the perspective of the World Test Championship. Bumrah’s absence is being considered a big blow for Team India.
