Fans will have free entry to the stadiums for the two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka, starting August 15. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) made the official announcement on Friday, stating that spectators will not be charged any ticket fees for the two matches, to be played in Galle and Colombo. The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-2027 cycle.

The matches will be played in Galle and Colombo.

The first Test between the two teams will be played at the historic Galle International Stadium from August 15th to 19th. The second Test will then be held at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) ground in Colombo from August 23rd to 27th. The Board has taken this step due to the declining number of spectators in the stadium stands, so that more fans can enjoy the Test match at the ground.

WTC points table math and India’s position

The Indian team currently sits fifth in the ICC World Test Championship points table, while Sri Lanka remains in sixth place. India last played a Test match against Afghanistan at the New Chandigarh Stadium in June. A win in Sri Lanka is crucial for the Indian team to remain in contention for the final.

With this tour, Shubhdeep Ghosh will take over as India’s new fielding coach. The BCCI has decided not to renew the contracts of T. Dilip and Ryan ten Doeschate. Previously, in 2017, India completed a clean sweep of the Sri Lanka Test series with a 3-0 victory.
