In the first T20 match played at Lucknow Cricket Stadium, India won by 8 wickets against West Indies. After winning the toss, the Indian team decided to bowl first. The team of West Indies (IND Vs WI) had set a target of 172 runs in front of India on the strength of captain Shai Hope (52) and Sherfan Rutherford (56). India's captain did not lag behind in chasing these runs. Captain Shreyas Iyer (102 not out) continued his Asian Games 2026 form with a thunderous century to give India a 1-0 lead in the series.

In chasing the runs given by Windies, India's start was not as good as it should be. The wickets of openers Sanju Samson (11) and Abhishek Sharma (21) fell early. Abhishek appeared on the ball, but Roston Chase was caught by Hetmyer to end his innings. At the distance of his call, Samson fell prey to Akel Hossein. Akel confirmed him.

India had decided to bowl first. West Indies batted first. Kamil Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer opened the innings for West Indies. But both the batsmen returned cheaply. Both scored 12 and 5 runs each. Captain Shai Hope managed the innings of West Indies from one side. He scored a half-century of 52 runs. He got out after scoring 52 runs. Romain Powell was then dismissed for a wicket.

Then Roston Chase was dismissed for just 5 runs. Romario Shepherd also did not have a good innings. Matthew Ford also contributed just 2 runs. Sherfan Rutherford, however, hit 6 fours and 3 sixes in the middle order and made an important contribution in increasing the score of his team.
