Indi Alliance MPs took out a protest march in Delhi against the Election Commission of India and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. During the protest, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was detained by the police for some time and later released. At the same time, leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi was seen climbing the police barricade and waving the national flag.
During the protest, leaders of the Indi alliance accused the Election Commission of alleged irregularities in the voter list and deletion of votes. The protesters raised questions on the functioning of the Election Commission and demanded the removal of ECE Gyanesh Kumar.
Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission. He said, “The Election Commission is lying. The Election Commission is dishonest. The Election Commission is a dacoit of democracy. The Chief Election Commissioner is not even ready to listen to his fellow Election Commissioners. The allegations are on the Election Commission, so why is the BJP giving clarification?”
Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge said, “The movement we are running and the issue that Rahul Gandhi has emphasized is related to the rights of the youth, women, farmers and poor of the country. The freedom that our people had achieved by facing struggle, jail and even death, is now being snatched away.
To remain in power they (BJP) are snatching away the rights of the people in every possible way. He tried to come to power by misleading the people. Considering the wrong way in which he assumed office and captured power, I say that he should leave the post immediately, otherwise there will be an uproar in the entire country. The people of the country will not sit silent, this is my warning to them.”
Congress MP Pramod Tiwari also made serious allegations against the Election Commission. He said, “The way 13 crore votes have been removed, the way votes have been stolen and the way Form 6 has been misused, after all this, Gyanesh Kumar's place should not be in the Election Commission office but in Tihar Jail.”
Responding to BJP MP Sambit Patra's comment that “Lord Ganesha is helping the BJP,” Pramod Tiwari said, “I can say with full confidence that if you compare Gyanesh Kumar with Lord Ganesha to save him, Lord Ganesha will wrap the BJP in his trunk and throw it so far that it will never be able to come to power in its lifetime.”
Senior Congress leader and MP P. Chidambaram targeted the BJP, citing the hearing in the Supreme Court regarding Form 6. He said, “The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court had clearly said that we have not approved any changes in Form 6.
He had said this once and it is being shown many times. He said this in open court. How can the BJP openly deny that the Chief Justice of India did not say this?”
Congress MP Rajiv Shukla said, “Everyone has spoken, and we are continuously demanding that the votes of the 13 crore people who have been cheated should also be counted. The Election Commission has done this wrong thing, so they should remove the Chief Election Commissioner.”
At the same time, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant, while enumerating the demands of the Indi alliance, said that they are demanding removal of Gyanesh Kumar from the post, conducting the elections through ballot paper and reinstatement of the names of the people removed from the voter list during SIR.
