New Delhi: The country is going to celebrate 80th Independence Day on 15 August 2026. On this special occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the tricolor from the historic Red Fort of Delhi in the morning and address the nation. Like every year, this time too the eyes of the country and the world will be fixed on the Red Fort.
A grand event will be held at the Red Fort
This year around 27,000 people will participate in the Independence Day celebrations. There will be around 5,000 special guests from different regions. Along with this, the general public and youth from all over the country will also be a part of this national festival. Cultural glimpse of the country, military parade and tableaus of different states will be seen in the ceremony. Strict security arrangements have been made.
Where to watch live on TV?
If you want to watch the ceremony on TV sitting at home, then it will be telecast live on DD News. According to the government announcement, the live coverage will start from 6:30 am on August 15. Like every year, this time too all eyes will be on PM Modi’s address. It is believed that on the 80th Independence Day, he can mention the achievements of the government, the roadmap for the next 25 years and new schemes for the youth. In last year’s speech he had laid out the vision of ‘Developed India 2047’. There may be some big announcements this time too.
When to reach, what to keep in mind?
If you are going to Red Fort then reach early in the morning. Keep your pass and identity card with you. Phones and bags will be checked. Considering the weather, it would be better to keep water and umbrella with you.
