The purpose of this special arrangement is to provide easy and safe public transport to the people in view of the increasing crowd in the capital during the Independence Day celebrations.
Which are the metro stations near Red Fort?
Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Delhi Gate metro stations are the nearest options for travelers going to the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. It will be relatively easy to reach the venue from these stations.
To facilitate the travel of special guests and invitees, the Defense Ministry has provided 1.30 lakh pre-issued QR tickets to DMRC. Special arrangements will also be made at designated stations for invitees with valid physical admit cards.
Advisory regarding flying kites also
Before Independence Day, DMRC has appealed to the people not to fly kites near the elevated metro lines. If the kite string gets entangled in high-voltage overhead equipment, it can affect train operations and create a serious safety hazard.
Security and traffic arrangements will also be tight in the capital on August 15. In such a situation, starting metro service early in the morning can prove to be a convenient travel option for people going to Red Fort.
