‘India is for peace’, Modi’s message to Zelenskiy, the PM will be the ‘bridge’ of Moscow-Washington?

Since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in 2022, India’s position has been in favor of peace. Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again reminded that. The Prime Minister went to France to attend the G-7 summit. On the sidelines of the conference, he had a bilateral meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. There, Modi reminded that it is very necessary to go back to the pre-war situation.

After the meeting, Modi wrote on his X handle, ‘Meet President Volodymyr Zelensky. Communication between India and Ukraine has increased significantly in the recent past. Its reflection is seen in bilateral relations. Today we discussed the relations between the two countries. We both agreed to restore trade relations as they existed before the war. At the same time I reminded that India is always for peace. Humanity must be placed above all else.’

According to sources, significant decisions have been taken on the Russia-Ukraine war at this G-7 conference. It is assumed that the forum has agreed to give more weapons to Ukraine in the coming days. In this situation, analysts also think that Moscow wants to send a message to the ‘enemy’ Zelensky through Modi. It is also believed that Modi will deliver the message of the G-7 forum to Russia. India, however, would like Russia-Ukraine to sit on the negotiating table like the Middle East. The two countries resolved the problem through diplomacy.

It should be noted that there are never solutions on the battlefield. The problem needs to be resolved through meetings and diplomacy. India believes in this foreign policy. And from this position, India has repeatedly sent a message to Russia and Ukraine to negotiate. According to analysts, it would be a major diplomatic victory if Ukraine and Russia hold talks on Modi’s advice. If Delhi can pave the way for an end to this war by playing a game of balance, it will send a significant message to various countries.
