India Targets Strong Finish with 39 Medals at CWG 2026

The Commonwealth Games 2026 will conclude in Glasgow on January 31, with India set to participate in judo and track cycling events on the final day.

India enters the closing day of the Games with a total of 39 medals, consisting of 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze, despite a reduced sports programme.

According to the schedule shared by ESPN, Indian athletes Dinesh Kumar, Harshveer Singh Sekhon, Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam and Lisha Das will compete in cycling, while judokas Ishroop Narang, Avtar Singh and Yash Ghanghas seek to increase the medal tally.

In judo, Ishroop Narang competes in the women’s -78kg elimination round, Avtar Singh in the men’s -100kg category, and Yash Ghanghas in the men’s +100kg category. These judokas aim to advance through elimination rounds with semifinals planned later in the day.

In track cycling, Dinesh Kumar and Harshveer Singh Sekhon will race in the men’s 40km points race, while Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam will take part in the men’s 1000m time trial final. Lisha Das will represent India in the women’s C4-C5 1000m time trial final in para cycling.

Dinesh Kumar and Harshveer Singh Sekhon could also compete in the men’s 40km points race final if they qualify from the first round.
