The Indian team has tightened its grip on the Colombo Test. After forcing Sri Lanka to follow on, the team captained by Shubman Gill gave it 6 shocks till the stumps on the fourth day (26 August). The Sri Lankan team was able to score only 229 runs in its second innings. The host team has a lead of only 16 runs and only 4 wickets are left. Team India is standing on the threshold of making a clean sweep.
Sri Lanka progressed its first innings on the fourth day of the match with a score of 265/8. Sonal Dinusha returned unbeaten on 85 runs and scored her second consecutive century. However, the Indian team did not take much time to wrap up his innings and got him all out for 290. Prasidh Krishna and Manav Suthar had 3 wickets each. Debutant Saransh Jain took 2 wickets. Mohammad Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja took 1 wicket each.
India declared its first innings on the score of 503/9. He got a lead of 213 runs. In such a situation, Indian captain Shubman Gill asked Sri Lanka to play for follow-on. The Sri Lankan team, which came to play follow-on, lost wickets at regular intervals. Pasindu Suriyabandara (92) and Kamindu Mendis (55) showed fighting spirit by making a century partnership for the third wicket but as soon as this pair broke, the Sri Lankan innings fell apart. Now it has become difficult for him to save the Colombo Test.

Manav Suthar did wonders in the second innings also
Young left arm spinner Manav Suthar took 10 wickets in the first test of this series played in Galle and led Team India to victory by 165 runs. Suthar's magic continues in the second test also. In this match, after taking 3 wickets during the first innings of Sri Lanka, he has also taken 2 wickets in the second innings. He has taken big wickets of Suriyabandara and Sri Lankan captain Dhananjay de Silva.
Mohammad Siraj gave the first blow to Sri Lanka in the second innings. Siraj got Lahiru Kumara (3) caught by Saransh Jain. After this Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Kamil Mishara (32). Prasidh Krishna and Saransh Jain have also taken 1 wicket each.

Sonal Dinusha and Keshara Nuwantha are the unbeaten batsmen till the end of the fourth day's play. By the time the game was stopped due to rain, both of them had made a partnership of 11 runs in 85 balls. Team India would like to chase the small target by quickly taking the remaining 4 wickets of Sri Lanka on the last day of the match (27th August), because there is no assurance of rain. If India wins this match, then it will reach fourth position in the points table of the World Test Championship.
