Indian Railways: India’s first hydrogen train will be launched on July 17, know the route, fare and features

Indian Railways is taking a big and historic step towards clean and modern transport. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off India’s first indigenous hydrogen fuel cell train on 17 July 2026. This train will prove to be a boon for the environment and will be a cheaper and modern option for passengers.
On which route will the hydrogen train run?

India’s first hydrogen train will run on Jind-Sonipat section of Northern Railway. The train will connect Jind Junction, Gohana Junction and Sonepat. During the journey, the train will halt at stations like Jind City, Pandu Pindara, Lalit Kheda, Bhambewa, Isapur Khedi, Butana, Khandrai, Rabarah, Lath, Mohana, Barwasani and Sonepat New.

Fare and Timings:
Rent: The starting fare of the train is only Rs 5 and the maximum fare has been kept as low as Rs 25.

Time: The train will complete this route of 89 km in just 2 hours.

Schedule: The train will leave Jind daily at 07:40 AM and reach Sonepat at 09:40 AM. The return journey will depart from Sonepat at 10:40 AM and return to Jind at 1:00 PM.

Features of hydrogen train
This 10-coach train is equipped with a 1200 kilowatt hydrogen fuel cell system, which ensures smoke-free travel.
The maximum speed of the train will be 75 km/h, while the design speed is 110 km/h.
The train can carry around 2,600 passengers in one round.
