Gold medal for women's compound team
The Indian women's compound team consisting of Taniparthy Chikita, Pradeep Prathika and Vennam Jyothi Surekhana had performed brilliantly in the final; He won the gold medal by defeating China by the score of 238-234 and equalizing Vishwa Vikram. As a result, the Chinese team had to be satisfied with the silver medal, while South Korea won the bronze medal by defeating Chinese Taipei. With this win, the Indian women's compound team successfully retained its gold medal. It is also noteworthy that India had earlier won silver medal in this competition in 2018 and bronze medal in 2014. Additionally, the team equaled the world record of 238 points set by South Korea during the 2014 edition. En route to winning the gold medal, the Indian team defeated South Korea 234–233 in the semi-finals.
Compound mixed team also won gold medal
After the women's compound team, the mixed compound team also performed well. The mixed compound pair of Taniparthi Chikita and Jadhav Sahil Rajesh won the gold medal, which was the second gold medal for the Indian contingent on the day. After the matches were tied 157-157 in the stipulated time, India won the shoot-off by 20-19 and won the gold medal. With this win, the pair have also sealed their place for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. Compound mixed archery team competition is going to be included in the Olympics for the first time. The Indian mixed team reached the gold medal match after defeating Thailand 156-155 in the semi-finals. India had won a total of five medals in archery in the last Asian Games.
With these two gold medals, India has reached 9th position in the medal tally of Asian Games 2026 and has a total of 54 medals (8 gold, 21 silver, 25 bronze). On the other hand, China and Japan remain at the top two positions with 255 and 183 medals respectively. In the previous Asian Games, India had finished fourth with a total of 107 medals.
