India’s knockout hopes increased, equation changed due to exit of Pakistan and Netherlands

New Delhi. As the league stage matches in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 are progressing, the picture of the semi-finals is also becoming clear. The journey of Pakistan and Netherlands teams in the middle of the tournament has officially ended. After losing three consecutive matches, both the teams are out of the race for the semi-finals. On the other hand, the Indian women’s team has performed brilliantly and reached second place in Group A and its chances of reaching the knockout stage seem quite strong.

The matches played on Saturday completely changed the points table of Group A. Australia registered its third consecutive win by defeating Netherlands by a huge margin of 98 runs. After this, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan and showed them the way out of the tournament. After these results, both Pakistan and Netherlands have registered three defeats each and now they cannot return to the race for the semi-finals even after winning the remaining matches.

Australia is on top in Group A with 6 points. The team has almost secured a place in the semi-finals by winning all three matches. The Indian team has won both the matches played so far and is in second place with 4 points. India’s net run rate is also excellent, which is giving it an edge over other teams. Bangladesh is also in third place with 4 points, but is behind India in terms of net run rate. South Africa remains at fourth position with 2 points.

The most important match for the Indian team will now be against Bangladesh and South Africa. If Team India continues its excellent performance then it is considered almost certain that it will reach the semi-finals. The captain and team management also seem satisfied with the current form of the players.

  • Talking about Group-B, host England has retained the top position by winning all its three matches. West Indies is in second place with 4 points. The teams of New Zealand, Scotland and Sri Lanka are still in the race for the semi-finals. Ireland, on the other hand, is almost out of the tournament after three consecutive defeats, although mathematically their hopes are not completely over yet.

Now every match has become very important in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. The Indian team will be eyeing to ensure a place in the semi-finals by registering consecutive wins, while other teams are also trying their best to reach the last four. The excitement of the tournament is going to increase even more in the coming days.
