A recent report by Digit claimed that smartphone maker Nothing has decided to close down operations in more than 12 countries. It also reported massive layoffs in various departments, including its research and development centers in London and China. The report also questioned the performance of the new ‘Nothing Phone (4b).’ It claimed that only 20,000 units of the phone have been sold worldwide since its launch.
Akis Evangelinidis, co-founder of Nothing, dismissed all these claims. He said on the X handle, “Fake news. We are not stopping sales in any market. Misinformation is being spread, the latest phone sold 29,537 units on the first day alone, which is a record in its price category.” Evangelinidis said that the company is reorganizing its operations for the future. In his words, “We are reorganizing our teams. We are creating ‘regional hubs’ by bringing together different countries to operate more efficiently.”
