Kharge got angry on the stage, reprimanded his own workers –
Knews Desk- During Congress’ ‘Sankalp Samavesh’ program organized in Bengaluru, party president Mallikarjun Kharge got angry at his own workers. During this incident that took place on the stage, slogans of ‘DK-DK’ were being raised by the workers in support of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, due to which the atmosphere of the program suddenly changed.
Angered by the sloganeering, Kharge reprimanded the workers from the stage itself and expressed deep displeasure over the indiscipline. He even said that such people are “useless people” who are damaging the dignity of the party program. He said that this is not a program of any particular person, but a collective event of the Congress Party, which everyone should take seriously.
Kharge said in clear words that no individual is worshiped in Congress, rather the party is supreme. He questioned the workers that if everyone raises slogans in their own way then the purpose of the program will be defeated. He said that such actions raise questions on the unity and discipline of the party.
During this time, Chief Minister DK Shivkumar and senior leader Randeep Surjewala, who were present at the program, also tried to handle the situation. Both the leaders signaled the workers to remain calm, but by then the atmosphere had deteriorated and Kharge had expressed his displeasure.
Kharge further said that if some people come on the stage and raise slogans as per their wish then what would be the point of the rest of the workers and leaders attending the programme. He raised the question in a sharp tone whether all the people had come just to watch the show or to make noise. He said that such actions weaken the collective objective of the party. Referring to his long political experience, Kharge said that he has spent 58 years in politics and it is the Congress party that has given him recognition. He also said that the party is not run by any one leader, but by organization and discipline.
Kharge warned that the video recording of the entire incident would be examined and disciplinary action would be taken against workers found guilty. He made it clear that discipline in the party is the top priority and it cannot be broken at any cost.
