Kia Syros EV Spied At TVC Shoot Ahead Of July Launch

The South Korean automaker Kia India is gearing up for the launch of its newest and most affordable electric vehicle in India – the Kia Syros EV.

Now, recently, just before its official launch, a fully undisguised Syros EV was spotted at a mall in Bengaluru, Karnataka, during what appears to be the official television commercial shoot of this electric SUV. It can be noted that, from the outside, the Syros EV looks identical to the standard ICE model.

As per the reports, this particular Kia Syros EV was spotted at the Orion Mall in Bengaluru, Karnataka. We can note that there is a film crew surrounding the vehicle. As for the differences that can be noted on the soon-to-be-launched Syros EV, the first major difference will be at the front. As it can be noted, the front bumper of the Syros EV is different from the standard model.

On the ICE version, we get to see a silver skid plate with silver triangles on either end. However, in the Syros EV, that same element has become trapezoidal, and it is hollow. Additionally, it is finished in the body color, which adds to the unique appearance. Apart from this, the rest of the front fascia, vertically stacked LED headlights, and the bonnet appear to be the same.

Next up, moving to the side profile, once again we can note that the same chunky cladding on the wheel arch is present in the EV model as well. The only major difference which we can note is that the charging port of the Syros EV has been placed on the front left fender. The quirky 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheel design has also been kept the same in the EV.

As for the rear end, we can note that, from the rear, it looks almost exactly the same as the Syros ICE model. The only major difference is the rear bumper and the same trapezoidal body-colored elements as the front end. Meanwhile, the L-shaped LED taillights and the additional reverse lights on the rear bumper are the same. It will also come offered with a shark fin antenna, rear wiper, washer, and defogger setup as well.

Although there are no spy images of the interior of the Syros EV, it has been reported that it will remain the same as the standard ICE model. This means it will continue to get the same futuristic-looking, feature-loaded dashboard. Its main highlights will include the Trinity panoramic display, connected car technology, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless connectivity, and over-the-air software updates.

The Syros EV is also expected to offer Level 2 ADAS. In addition to these features, Kia is also expected to offer the Syros EV with DC fast charging, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging. It will also get multiple regenerative braking levels and connected charging management through Kia Connect.

It has been reported that Kia is planning to offer the Syros EV with the same electric powertrain options as the Kia Carens Clavis EV and the Hyundai Creta Electric. This means it will get the same 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery pack options. It has also been reported that the smaller 42 kWh battery could offer a claimed driving range of up to 443 km.

Meanwhile, the larger 51.4 kWh battery could deliver up to 520 km on a single charge. However, as we all are aware, the real-world driving conditions reduce the range. So buyers can expect a real-world range of around 380 to 430 km. Kia is also expected to offer the Syros EV with a 15-year or lifetime battery warranty to make it easier for first-time EV buyers. As for the pricing, the Kia Syros EV is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 15 to 20 lakh and will rival the Tata Nexon.ev and the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
