Kinetic DX Plus Launch: New electric scooter launched with big battery, claimed range of 132 km

Automobile Desk – Kinetic DX Plus Launch: With the intention of strengthening its hold in the Indian electric two-wheeler market, Kinetic has expanded its popular electric scooter DX portfolio. The company has launched a new top-end variant in the market named DX Plus 3.1 kWh. This new model has been specially designed keeping in mind the needs of those who want long range for their daily commute and freedom from the hassle of frequent charging. The starting price of Kinetic DX series has been kept at Rs 1.18 lakh (ex-showroom), in which this new model will now be available as the most premium option.

The biggest feature of the new Kinetic DX Plus 3.1 kWh is its large battery capacity. The company has given it a LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery pack with 3.1 kWh capacity. LFP technology is known for its superior thermal stability, safety and long lifecycle. The company claims that as per Indian Driving Cycle (IDC) standards, this scooter can cover a distance of up to 132 kilometers once fully charged. Earlier, the existing DX Plus 2.6 kWh model had a range of 105 km, which means the new model directly gives an additional range of 27 km. However, actual mileage on actual roads will depend on factors such as riding speed, traffic, rider weight, suspension and weather.

The company has tried to create a new balance in terms of design and power delivery. The new 3.1 kWh model has an electric motor generating peak power of 3.8 kW. This setup helps in getting more mileage. In contrast, the 2.6 kWh variant with lower battery capacity gets a 4.78 kW motor. This simply means that if your priority is faster pickup and more power, then the 2.6 kWh variant may be a better choice. At the same time, for those who have to cover more distance daily and want more mileage than power, the 3.1 kWh model will be more practical.

To improve the riding experience, two riding modes like Range and Power have been provided in the new variant. It is worth noting that it does not have Turbo mode, which is available in its smaller battery variants (2.6 kWh) and standard DX.

In terms of features, Kinetic has not made any cuts in the new variant. Coming with a strong metal body, this scooter has an all-LED lighting setup and an 8.8-inch digital LCD instrument display screen. To keep the luggage, it has been provided with a large under-seat storage space of 37 litres, which provides great convenience in daily use. Apart from this, as smart features, it includes modern features like Keyless Go, password based ignition, cruise control, telematics, park assist, reverse mode, front disc brake and regenerative braking.

Talking about colors, Kinetic DX Plus 3.1 kWh can be purchased in a total of five attractive shades—Red, Blue, Black, Gray and White. The new variant will be available for sale in showrooms along with the already existing 2.6 kWh DX Plus and standard DX models.
