Liquor smuggling foiled in Araria: 126 liters of beer recovered from Safari, two arrested

Amidst the complete prohibition in Bihar, smugglers are adopting new methods, but the Araria Prohibition Department has foiled their plans. In a major action taken on the instructions of the District Officer, 126 liters of foreign beer was seized from the Safari Storme vehicle and two smugglers were arrested.

District Excise Superintendent Niranjan Kumar Jha received secret information that a large consignment of liquor was being taken to Purnia from Araria-Purnia four lane in a white colored Safari. Taking immediate action, a special team was formed under the leadership of Ani Pooja Kumari. The team included Ani Ranjit Kumar, prohibition constable and Home Guard personnel.

Film style arrest at 05:15 am

The team took up position on the four lane near Karyat Police Camp of Mahalgaon police station area at 04:40 in the morning. At around 05:15 a suspicious safari was seen coming from Araria. Seeing the police, the driver tried to drive away, but the team surrounded the vehicle and stopped it. During interrogation, both the smugglers confessed that the vehicle was loaded with liquor. The arrested smugglers include co-driver Mo Sajjad, resident of Mathna Milik ward no. 08 of Gauraul police station area of ​​Vaishali district and co-smuggler Aman Kumar, resident of Garhbanelli ward no. 02 under Kasba police station of Purnia district.

252 bottles of beer recovered, the consignment was brought from Bengal

252 bottles of 500 ml beer kept hidden under the trunk and rear seat of the four-wheeler vehicle were recovered. A total of 126 liters of liquor was seized. Four Sale in West Bengal was written on all the bottles. During interrogation, the accused told that the beer was loaded at West Bengal and Kishanganj Border NH and was being taken to Garhbanelli in Purnia.

Present in court, campaign will continue

The Excise Superintendent said that the liquor and the two smugglers were brought along with the vehicle to the Excise Police Station, Araria. After making a seizure list, a case has been registered against both the accused under Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act and presented in the court. The Excise Superintendent has clarified that on the instructions of the District Officer, action will continue on the policy of zero tolerance against illegal liquor traders.
