New Delhi. The proceedings of the Lok Sabha lasted only for a few minutes on Thursday, the last day of the monsoon session of the Parliament. Amidst the uproar and sloganeering by the opposition, Speaker Om Birla sang Vande Mataram and adjourned the House indefinitely. After the session was over, Birla hosted a traditional tea party for the floor leaders in his chamber. Leaders of the ruling party including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh attended it. However, only DMK MP MK Kanimozhi was seen from the opposition side.

Opposition kept distance, Kanimozhi reached
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and leaders of other opposition parties did not attend the tea party. In such a situation, political discussions intensified regarding the presence of Kanimozhi. The special thing is that even after the monsoon session last year, the opposition had boycotted the Speaker's tea party and then the DMK had also stayed away from it. This time the arrival of Kanimozhi is considered important.
Sour relations between DMK and Congress
Even in the politics of Tamil Nadu, news of distance between DMK and Congress has been continuously coming to the fore. After Congress's contact with Thalapathy Vijay's party TVK, DMK had even demanded to sit separately from Congress in Parliament. In such a situation, Kanimozhi's joining the Tea Party along with the ruling party leaders is giving rise to speculations about new political equations. However, it is too early to consider this as a direct indication of DMK coming closer to NDA.

Keep an eye on the delimitation bill
This entire development is also being linked to the Delimitation Bill. Modi government will need two-thirds majority in Parliament to pass such a bill related to constitutional amendment. NDA currently has 293 MPs in the Lok Sabha. Despite adding allies and potential support, it is said to be about 28 MPs short of meeting the 360 mark required for two-thirds. DMK has 22 Lok Sabha MPs.
This is the reason why DMK's stance is considered important for the government. In the special session in April, opposition parties including DMK had opposed the government on the proposal related to delimitation. Now Kanimozhi's presence in the tea party at the end of the monsoon session has given rise to new discussions in political circles.
