Maharashtra TET Paper Leak: ‘This is theft of dreams of millions of youth’, Rahul Gandhi lashed out at the government on Maha-TET paper leak

After the sudden postponement of Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHA-TET) 2026 and the issue of paper leak coming to light, now there is a big political upheaval in the country. The opposition has opened a front against the government for canceling this grand examination to be held on June 28 just a day before. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has slammed the Central and Maharashtra governments over this entire incident. Making a scathing attack, he said that the current education and examination system of the country has now become a complete ‘extortion system’. Rahul Gandhi warned that these recurring paper leaks are not just the release of any question paper, but it is a direct theft of the golden dreams of millions of promising youth of the country. Rahul Gandhi’s anger over ‘X’: "Every youth is feeling unsafe"

As soon as the news of paper leak being busted in Bhiwandi and examination being postponed, Rahul Gandhi shared a very aggressive post on the social media platform ‘X’ (Twitter). they wrote:

"Another paper leak, another exam cancelled! This time it is the number of Maharashtra TET. The education and examination system of the country has been completely transformed into an extortion system, due to which every youth of the country is feeling insecure today. This is not just a simple case of paper leak, but a blatant theft of the future of our youth."

He further said that from the National Testing Agency (NTA) to the state examination boards, such shameful incidents happening continuously raise very serious questions on the administrative capacity and intentions of the present government. After all, why was the examination of 1.82 lakh students postponed at the last moment? Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE) on Saturday issued an emergency official statement highlighting the compulsions behind the postponement. According to the council, this examination was to be conducted on Sunday at a total of 1,028 centers across the state, in which seating arrangements for more than 1.82 lakh candidates had been completed. The administration made it clear that the decision to cancel the examination has been taken to maintain the safety of students and fairness of marks. The command of this entire case has now been handed over to a high-level investigation team and new exam dates will be announced on the official website after the completion of the investigation. According to the timeline shared by MSCE, a very strong and confidential information was received from intelligence sources on Saturday morning that some fraudsters in Bhiwandi area of Thane have very sensitive and secret information related to the question paper of TET exam. Considering the seriousness of the information, the special team of Bhiwandi Police immediately raided the identified locations. During this action, the police recovered some unauthorized question papers and digital documents. When the top officials of the examination council matched these seized questions with the original examination question papers kept in the safe, many key questions were found to be an exact match. Due to complete breach of confidentiality, an FIR was immediately registered and the examination was put on hold. Even the strictness of NEET did not help; How was the security cycle broken? This matter has also shocked everyone because the Examination Council itself has admitted that in view of the recent huge irregularities in the NEET (NEET 2026) examination at the national level and the nationwide protests, this time extra security protocols were implemented for TET. Despite these claims, the manner in which the question paper came out in Bhiwandi just 24 hours before the examination has raised question marks on the promptness of the police and intelligence machinery. The council says that they are investigating in depth at which level the security cycle of printing press, treasury or transportation was broken. What will happen next now? Candidates await new date Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE) has assured the affected students that no culprit or government employee involved in this racket will be spared and prompt action will be taken against them under the new strict law. At present, lakhs of candidates who have worked day and night for years are once again stuck in limbo amid this political tug of war. Now all eyes are on the final investigation report of the police and the next exam schedule to be released by the examination council.
