Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra is preparing to launch a new version of its popular SUV, the Mahindra Thar (3-door). Prototypes of the Thar spotted on the roads during testing clearly indicate that this upcoming model will incorporate many key design and features of the Thar Roxx. While no official announcement has been made by Mahindra yet, auto reports suggest it could be launched soon.

What will be the changes in design and features?
According to leaked images and media reports, the new Thar 3-door will see several major changes to its exterior and interior:
- New Front Grille: On the lines of Thar Rock, it will have a new 6-slot front grille.
- LED Lighting Setup: Halogen lights will be replaced by new circular LED headlights and C-shaped LED DRLs.
- New alloy wheels and bumpers: The SUV will get newly designed alloy wheels along with minor changes to the front and rear bumpers.
- Major cabin updates: The interior is likely to get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a new steering wheel, and power window controls on the doors.
There will be no change in engine and power
The new Mahindra Thar is expected to feature no major mechanical changes. It will continue to offer the same three engine options as before:
- 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol: 152 bhp and 300 Nm of torque.
- 2.2-litre mHawk diesel: 132 bhp and 300 Nm of torque.
- 1.5-litre D117 diesel (RWD): 119 bhp power and 300 Nm torque.

When will it be launched and what will be the price?
The updated Mahindra Thar 3-door is expected to be launched in the Indian market by the last quarter of 2026. Expected ex-showroom prices could range between ₹11 lakh and ₹18 lakh, depending on the RWD and 4WD variants.
