Mamata Banerjee: Angry protesters stopped Mamata Banerjee’s convoy, pelting her with mud, water bottles, and shoes; shouted slogans like “Queen of Dacoits,” and the former CM alleged the attack in front of the police.

Halishahar. Former West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee’s convoy was reportedly attacked by a mob in Halishahar, North 24 Parganas, on Sunday. Banerjee was on her way to the home of a deceased TMC worker. Reports indicate that an angry mob stopped her convoy on the way, pelting it with mud, water bottles, and shoes. Neither Banerjee nor her companions were harmed in the incident.

After stopping Mamata Banerjee’s convoy, the angry mob threw various things and also raised slogans against the former CM. According to media reports, people also called Mamata the ‘Queen of Dacoits’. Sensing a threat to Mamata Banerjee’s safety, the police immediately reached the spot and took the TMC chief out under tight security. Mamata Banerjee has alleged that big stones were thrown at her car. She also alleged that people were attacking her in front of the police. Mamata said that she was lucky. If the window of the car had been open, her head would have been broken and her life would have been in danger.

It should be noted that after the West Bengal Assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee’s MP nephew Abhishek Banerjee was also pelted with eggs by angry people in North 24 Parganas. Abhishek Banerjee was also visiting the home of a deceased TMC worker. After the BJP government came to power in West Bengal, public anger against TMC leaders is spilling out. There have been incidents of egg-throwing and assault on TMC leaders. Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek, and TMC leaders accuse BJP members of being involved in all this. Meanwhile, BJP leaders say that TMC members themselves are targeting leaders of other factions. West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has asked the police to stop such incidents.
