It should be noted that after the West Bengal Assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee’s MP nephew Abhishek Banerjee was also pelted with eggs by angry people in North 24 Parganas. Abhishek Banerjee was also visiting the home of a deceased TMC worker. After the BJP government came to power in West Bengal, public anger against TMC leaders is spilling out. There have been incidents of egg-throwing and assault on TMC leaders. Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek, and TMC leaders accuse BJP members of being involved in all this. Meanwhile, BJP leaders say that TMC members themselves are targeting leaders of other factions. West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has asked the police to stop such incidents.
