MCD took action after complaints and notice on building without map and illegal floor

New Delhi: After the Satya Niketan building accident, the Municipal Corporation's campaign against illegal and unsafe construction in Delhi is continuously intensifying. In this series, the Municipal Corporation took action against illegal construction in Gandhinagar and East Vinod Nagar areas of East Delhi and used bulldozers and hammers.

Action on the building completed a few days ago in Gandhinagar

In Gandhinagar area, the Municipal Corporation team targeted a building which was allegedly constructed without approved plans. It was told that the construction work of the building was completed only a few days ago. During the inspection, many irregularities and construction related flaws came to light in the building. After this, the corporation took action and demolished the illegal portion.

Fifth floor built on top of four floors in Vinod Nagar

At the same time, the Municipal Corporation's hammer also fell on the fifth floor of an illegally constructed four-storey building about 20 years old in East Vinod Nagar. According to the corporation, after receiving a complaint about illegal construction, notice was given to the concerned party. After the completion of the action, the illegal portion was demolished today. Local people allege that this additional floor was being constructed by a builder. When the people living in the flat protested against it during the construction, the dispute escalated and even a fight took place. The matter was complained to both the police and the Municipal Corporation. Although according to the local people, the builder who carried out the illegal construction is currently roaming outside, the corporation's hammer definitely came down on the fifth floor over which there was a dispute.

Now the question – will the hammer fall on every illegal fifth floor?

Local people in Vinod Nagar area say that additional floors have been constructed in many buildings in this manner. In such a situation, after the action of the Municipal Corporation, a big question has arisen whether similar action will be taken against other illegal constructions in the area in the coming days or this campaign will be limited to some selected buildings only. After the Satya Niketan accident, questions are continuously being raised regarding the safety of buildings and illegal construction in Delhi. In such a situation, this action taken in Gandhinagar and Vinod Nagar clearly indicates that the corporation is now preparing to increase the scope of action against illegal construction.
