The MG Hector has completed seven years in the market, and JSW MG Motor is marking the anniversary with benefits of up to Rs 60,000 through August 2026. The more important development, however, is what comes next. The Hector Hawk will extend the name into a seven-seat SUV that brings electrification into the family.
The current Hector range starts at Rs 11.99 lakh, ex-showroom. MG’s anniversary programme includes exchange benefits, loyalty rewards, corporate benefits and anniversary discounts, though the company has not published a variant-wise split of the Rs 60,000 maximum. Customers can also finance up to 100 per cent of the on-road price for as long as 84 months, subject to lender approval, and accessories can also be financed.
The Hector Hawk EV is due later this month, with the plug-in hybrid version expected to follow later in 2026. Expected prices have not been announced. Current market estimates place the wider range roughly between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 25 lakh, depending on powertrain and variant.
MG entered the market with the Hector in 2019, using its large touchscreen, connected-car functions and spacious cabin to establish the brand. Seven years later, the current version still follows the same basic formula but has been substantially refreshed.
The latest Hector uses a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 143 PS and 250 Nm, with six-speed manual and CVT choices. The range now covers five-seat and seven-seat versions, with prices running up to about Rs 20 lakh. Higher variants get a 14-inch portrait touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS.
Recent sales show why MG still needs to widen the Hector story. The model sold 1,297 units in April 2026, but volume fell to 950 units in June. Meanwhile, MG’s overall sales have increasingly been driven by newer electric products such as the Windsor EV. The Hector remains important, but it is no longer carrying the brand almost single-handedly as it did in MG’s early years.
The Hector Hawk is expected to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 and MG’s new ADAPT architecture. It is a separate vehicle rather than an electric conversion of today’s Hector, but using the Hector name gives the newcomer instant recognition.
The EV is expected to use a 69.2 kWh battery and a front-mounted motor producing about 201 PS and 310 Nm. The overseas specification carries a claimed range of around 530 km on the CLTC cycle. Local range certification can differ, so that figure should not be treated as the final India rating until MG announces it.
The PHEV is expected to combine a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 20.5 kWh battery. Overseas specifications point to roughly 195 PS of combined output and an electric-only range of about 125 km. That format could suit customers who want daily electric running without depending entirely on public charging for longer trips.
The anniversary offer makes the existing Hector more attractive in the short term, especially for customers who can use the exchange, loyalty or corporate components. The Rs 11.99 lakh entry price also keeps the large SUV accessible against smaller but newer rivals.
Hector Hawk is the more significant part of the seven-year story because it can broaden what the Hector badge represents. The current SUV remains a turbo-petrol family car. The Hawk will add an EV first and a plug-in hybrid later, while retaining the seven-seat format that matters to larger families.
MG still needs to confirm final specifications, local range figures, variant equipment and prices. Those details will decide whether the Hector Hawk attracts existing Hector owners or mainly competes with newer electric SUVs such as the Mahindra XEV 9S and Tata Sierra EV. What is already clear is that MG is using a name it established in 2019 to carry the brand into its next powertrain phase.
