Delhi: Cricket fans were treated to a thrilling final ball in the 23rd match of The Hundred Women 2026 on Thursday. Played at the historic Lord’s ground, MI London Women defeated London Spirit Women by three runs off the final ball to register a resounding victory. This was MI London’s first win of the tournament.
Batting first, MI London scored 122/9 in 100 balls. Amelia played a brilliant innings (69*) for MI. In reply, London Spirit came very close to victory, but could not withstand the pressure in the final overs and fell short by 3 runs.
Amelia Kerr handled the innings alone
Batting first, MI London had a poor start. They lost five wickets for just 23 runs. Captain Holly Armitage (6), Hayley Matthews (2), Keira Chathli (7), Nicola Carey (0), and Alice Monaghan (0) all departed early.
Amelia Kerr took charge in difficult times and batted brilliantly. She scored 69 runs in just 41 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes. Chinelle Henry, meanwhile, provided excellent support, scoring 22 runs in 15 balls. Thanks to their crucial partnership, MI London managed to reach 122 runs.
Charlie Dean was the pick of the bowlers for London Spirit, taking three wickets. Hannah Rennie took two, while Marizanne Kapp, Katie George, and Nadine de Klerk took one wicket each.
London Spirit lost on the last ball
Chasing a target of 123, London Spirit had a poor start, losing two wickets for just 14 runs. Marizanne Kapp (34) and Nadine de Klerk (35) then steadied the innings and brought the team back into the match.
London Spirit needed 15 runs to win in the last 6 balls, but the team could score only 11 runs and MI London won the match by 2 wickets.
The bowlers also played a big role in the victory.
