The horrific natural disaster that occurred in the upper areas of Nepal on Wednesday morning has caused huge devastation. According to the latest data released by Nepal Tourism Board, a total of 403 people from 27 countries are missing after the flash flood on Wednesday morning. These include 62 Nepalese and 341 foreign nationals. Among the missing people, 200 are said to be women and 203 men.
Wreaked havoc on travelers going to Mansarovar
According to tour operators and the tourism board, the largest number of missing foreigners are Indian nationals. Among the foreign nationals from a total of 26 countries who are unable to be contacted, 133 are from India, 47 from America and 33 from Britain. According to the information, most of these people had set out on Mansarovar Yatra and got hit by this disaster on the way.
This flood in Rasuwa district has caused huge loss of life and property. Till 3 pm, 17 people have been confirmed dead. The Nepal government has issued a warning saying that the coastal area of Trishuli River up to Chitwan may be in serious danger, due to which people living on the banks of the river have been asked to remain alert.
High alert in border districts of Bihar
After the situation deteriorated in the catchment areas of Nepal, the administration has become fully active in the areas of Bihar bordering India. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary called a high-level review meeting in view of the seriousness of the situation.
Instructions have been given for 24-hour monitoring and night patrolling of embankments in all sensitive districts including West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Saran, Muzaffarpur and Vaishali. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) contingents have been deployed to deal with the emergency.
PM Modi spoke to the Prime Minister of Nepal
In this hour of disaster, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah and expressed his condolences. PM Modi said that India stands strongly with Nepal in this period of crisis. He clarified that India is ready to provide all possible humanitarian assistance and Indian teams are working in coordination with the local administration of Nepal in relief and rescue operations. At present, a large-scale rescue operation is being conducted to search for the missing passengers.
