New Kia Seltos: You are likely aware that the Kia Seltos is already a formidable contender in the SUV segment; however, the company has now launched an all-new variant in China. This new-generation Kia Seltos has been designed specifically with Chinese consumers’ needs in mind. It boasts larger dimensions, a luxurious interior, high-end technology, and a more powerful engine.
Pre-bookings are set to begin on August 13, 2026, and according to the company, the SUV has already reached several dealerships across China. The new Kia Seltos launched in China is larger, more premium, and more high-tech than before. Let’s delve into the details regarding its design, features, engine, and how it differs from the Indian model.
Design of the New Kia Seltos
Starting with the design, the exterior of the new Kia Seltos appears significantly more premium than its predecessor. At the front, a wide grille, Kia’s new ‘Star-Map’ LED lighting, and a large skid plate give it a commanding look. Meanwhile, flush door handles, silver accents, and newly designed alloy wheels further enhance its stylish appeal.
At the rear, connected ‘Star-Map’ LED taillights, a hidden rear wiper, and a new bumper give it the signature look of a modern SUV. Kia will also offer an ‘X-Line’ variant, featuring black badging, dark-finish alloy wheels, and exclusive styling elements.
27-inch Display
The most significant change in the new Kia Seltos’s cabin is its 27-inch ultra-wide display. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P automotive chipset, ensuring the system operates smoothly and quickly. A separate 10-inch interactive screen is also provided for the driver.
The system supports split-screen functionality, connected car technology, Chinese navigation and entertainment apps, and the Baidu Ernie AI model. It also offers smartphone connectivity options such as Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, and Carlink. Level 2 ADAS
The new Kia Seltos has also received significant safety updates. It features Level 2 ADAS, including Remote Parking Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Following Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Safe Exit Warning, and a Surround View Camera.
Engine
Regarding the engine, the new Kia Seltos will be available in China with two petrol engine options. The base variant comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine that delivers 115 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque. It is paired with an IVT gearbox, and the company claims a mileage of approximately 15.6 kmpl.
The top variant is equipped with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that generates an impressive 200 PS of power and 253 Nm of torque. Interestingly, it features a new 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox instead of a dual-clutch transmission. Along with Eco, Normal, Sport, and Smart drive modes, it also offers Snow, Mud, and Sand traction modes.
